Two Weeks till Kentucky
« on: August 25, 2013, 08:29:00 PM »
Two weeks I'll be in Kentucky for a Velvet buck hunt. I've never been on a guided hunt. I'm totally  psyched, I've packed and unpacked at least a dozen times. Made lists and more lists. Shot at least 1000 arrows. Going with 2 bows a Treadway Blackswamp and an Osage selfbow made by Shaun Webb.

I'll keep you posted as things go.

Good luck!  If you want some advice on packing make sure you got a Therma Cell!!  The skeeters are horrible right now!

Good luck to ya. I'm working out that way right now in Paducah and just bought a house 60 miles from land between the lakes.

Thanks for all the well wishes. KyRidgeRunner I bought the ThermaCell Before I booked the hunt, heard the skeeters needed saddles in Kentucky.

Good luck, most bucks are still in velvet in early September.  Might also consider spraying camo in premithrin or permanome (spelling?) as well as Thermacell. Let us hear a hunt report.

Hmmm. I live 16 miles from Murray and the mosquitoes are pretty much nonexistent on my place at the moment. Face/eye flies are a worse nuisance to me.

Lots of deer and turkeys, not to mention squirrels.

I wish you good hunting.

Thanks, I'm getting used to thermacell scent. Been using it at dusk around home.

You ever notice that when you are going on a trip Mother Nature rears her ugly head. Last night a storm rolled through, now I'm a logger!
