Little trailers go with little cars very nicely. I have two rather new Subarus, both have hitches to pull either of my trailers, a canoe trailer with a box or a 4x6 enclosed trailer.

The trunk/backseat to my Mustang comfortably fits a doe. Not sure how to go about getting antlers in if I get a buck this year. Probably just hang out the back and tie the trunk down to the latch.

Just cutting off the legs at the joint makes a whole lot of difference, especially after they stiffen up. Wandering Monk,,, that p/u truck it a beauty.

Just remember that if you're tying the whole animal across the vehicle(large or small) put it across the back. The heat from the engine could be disasterous on meat quality.
Of course, so is running over them...

Spoken like a responsible man. And yes, the beauty of traditional archery is that your $200 bow is just as deadly  as any high dollar custom offering. It's the man pulling the string that counts!

I would personally love to see a prius with a deer strapped to the roof.  Driven by nuns in full habit, with a lab hanging his head out the back window.

I'll go hunting with you fellas anytime.

My Dad drove VW bugs back in the early 60's. One of my favorite family photos is Dad with a big 11pt tied across the hood of his VW.

Back then it was routine to drive around town with deer on the hood. Gotta show it off!

I lived in Montana and three of us were hunting together.  I shot a 5 pt. bull elk and my friend a small mulie buck.  I was driving a 1979 Honda Civic hatch back.  We all fit nicely and made it home with no problem.  You have to pay close attention to the "Gutless video" somebody posted on here.

A friend of mine stuffed two does in the back of a Prius along with all of his gear...and got all the doors shut.  I didn't actually see it but he is generally reliable...   :saywhat:

My nephew and I were hunting where its legal to take 2 deer a day. He was driving a Honda civic and I was in a Honda accord. We both took our limit and drove to his house with the deer in our trunks. Open and tied down but the drive wasn't too far. Not PC but the deer didn't object to our mode of transport.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.

Well guys,
I drive 50 miles a day just to work. The other around town miles add up too.
With a truck the best I've seen is 20 miles per gallon. With my car I get 35+ miles per gallon. I ain't very good in math but I know I am saving money.
This is what I have to work with and I figured that I would get some good ideas from "The Gang"
Just started hunting at 52 and this fall will be my first. I will be able to retire in about 5-6 years maybe then I can get a truck or something similar but until then I can absolutely assure you I prefer women!    :goldtooth:

Doug, a lot of teasing goes on here so don't feel like you are getting bashed.  You got what you got, don't worry.

Hopefully you got some ideas to follow up on. Lots of us have or had "VOTT" (vehicles other than trucks)and dealt with it.

Good luck this fall,  hoping you need that tarp or trailer, or bumper hauler.

My dad hunted out of a small Toyota car back in the day. He just laid down tarps and folded the deer in the trunk as best he could. I've also seen smaller deer crammed into the space between the backseat and window.

Nah,
No bothers!
I know it was all probably in jest.
I never really was one to worry about what others think.
Again I love this site and all the knowledge that goes with it I have learned so much
I thank you all for your input it is truely appreciated!

A small car with a deer stuffed in it is better than an empty truck.

A couple guys have mentioned it, two words:  Hitch Haul!  Unbelievably handy for hauling deer.  I don't drive pick ups I'm a Jeep guy and the hitch haul is the bomb even though there is room in the back of my Grand.

A hitch haul should do the job on just about any vehicle you care to put one on.

I hauled many deer home in the back of an old Caprice wagon before that though.

Hey Doug.  It was good shooting with you again.  And when you get that deer, you call me and we will get it out of the woods and to the processor!

The hitch haul works great but it has a major problem with my Explorer. If I take it hunting I never kill anything, if I leave it I'll have a deer in the Explorer with me on the way home   :biglaugh:

My brother and my hunting buddy have both had several Subaru sedans(not wagons) they handle hauling deer just fine.
