Can you believe this?
« on: September 05, 2007, 02:18:00 PM »
I was looking through ****'s archery section and saw a broadhead listed with a "Buy it Now" price of $2,750.00
It is claimed to be an experimental broadhead from 1955. I still can't believe that price.
Do you think a Fred Bear Pinned Razorhead is really worth this much?

Saw a 56' Kodiak Spec with a BIN of $600. Did I mention it was strung backwards. Looked rough to.  You still have me though, 2750. for a broadhead?  Better have an african big game animal on the other end of it.

I'm not a real big player on the auction site, but when I see those I always figure it doesn't hurt to ask  :readit:   I'd be real shocked if they actually got any bids anywhere remotely close, and the seller probably would be too.  I'm guessing they think it will make it look like a real bargain at $500 and hope a couple of suckers will feel the same way and bid it up.  Or maybe they forgot to put in the decimal point between the 7 and the 5  ;)

Whip my friend the opening bid is $2000 so they would have had to have made the decimal point mistake twice.

Per my experience, people that do not know the real value of something will over price it.

There's always an off chance that someone will jump on it without really thinking.  Esp if they believe it is a truely rare find.

Maybe they typed in the price w/o decimal points and assumed they would be inserted.  I have seen a few calculators like that. (i.e 2000 becomes 20.00)

I'd be very surprised it it sells for that price.

Collectors are quite silly people - and I am guilty too - even though I don't have THAT kind of money to spend - for anything. But I've seen bhd-auctions in the past where higher bids were placed! I only mention the "barbed Zwickey" from 1939 here.
There is something like the "top ten all time classic broadheads" - and besides this is a matter of personal taste - the pinned Bear Razorhead is considered being one of them - as is the barbed Zwickey. I would not be surprised if someone out there takes the BIN option - before this one went above the $3000 border   :saywhat:

Thinking of it as kind of the prototype for the famous Bear Razorhead it might be place alongside something like the prototype for every post stamp (the "Blue Mautritius" ?spelling) which is "worth" several million Dollars and secured in some bank safe or the such. But it's just a tiny little piece of paper!
Or think of some psychodelic artwork which sells for $$$$$$$ only because Mister XY went amok with his brush on the canvas ...

What I would love to do though, is getting me a  pinned Razorhead and then actually shoot a critter with it. That would be really COOL, not?!   :D    :D    ;)

Falk do you by chance have any Goshawk broadheads that were made here in Indiana. I saw them once on **** but they went well out of my price range. I just thought they looked like seriously lethal heads. I've wanted totry one since I saw them.

Well, yes - I do  :D
Jump over to   this threat  - and you can see them in a picture I made today. If you asked for a spare one - I am sorry - as these are one of MY all time favorites! And it is my plan to use them for hunting - which is more then difficult if you live in my place.
The statement to better spend the money needed to buy a pinned Razorhead on a trip to Africa etc. is quite true here ... but will not be enough of course  :(
