I walked into my site very carefully. I removed my shirt before walking in to avoid sweating. Those big Canadian skeets are aweful!!
Once on stand I settled down, finished dressing and turned on the Thermocell

This video will explain the rest of the hunt.
I did not have a way to film the shot, but was able to film immediately after the shot with my cell phone.

I apologize ahead of time for being so excited on the video. The adrenaline was flowing and I couldn't really think of much to say other than, "Oh my God" and "I just killed a bear."
It  was overwhelming and I had waited decades for that moment.

I was back to camp in just over an hour after getting on stand during the first hunt.    :D
It was a good decision to take that bear as the rest of the week was tough for hunters in camp due to weather.
One other hunter scored, and two more had opportunities and later regretted passing.
I will always take on the first day, what I wouldn't pass up on the last.   ;)

Last but not most certainly not least, is my friend Brian Pelham, who I have known for the last 8 years.

A few years ago, Brian had tried helping me on my Michigan hunt.  There was a lot put into that trip. Brian generously donated time and bait for that hunt but we got sabotaged by other hunters in the area the week of that hunt.

This year, Brian offered to help me out so I could make this trip. That kind of generosity doesn't come around often and I am thankful and very blessed to be surrounded with friends like him.

Brian is also one of the other guides for Northland Bear Outfitters. He knows more about bears than anyone I know.

It was a very awesome trip. I LOVE Ontario and would go back this very second. Thank you!!      :)

My set up is a St. Joe River longbow 58@28 ( Btw, thank you Tracey and Dave for a wonderful bow!), Easton Legacy 2020's, Woodsman 145 grain broadheads and my favorite Spring Green Predator camo
