everyone is very welcome for the thread. It is my pleasure to share it with you all.

Over lunch we ground up all the trim . In addition to all the steak roasts, shanks and such we got 40 lbs ( i weighed it on the bath scale) of pure ground venison!

There was a mix up in invited guests calendars. The wheelie guys wont be coming till next weekend. So one of my good trad buddies ( Old Lodge Skins) on this forum is coming down on Saturday to hunt with me. If you remember him from last year he shot a solid buck that had the broken leg and then after he shot it a absolute giant 8 point we called Skyscraper walked by.  Jay built his own recurve this past winter and will hunting with it.
I'll have some stories for ya I am sure. here is Jay's buck from last season

I did no hunting today. It was hot and muggy and windy to boot! So I took a quick inventory of the food plots as we got a little more rain yesterday.

Apple alley has perked a lot

the rape in field in front of the Bwana and Justin's stands looks like its going to survive as well. But I seem to have deleted that photo, darn!

my beans up top look great too, the pods have tripled in size in just the few days since we got that 1.5 inches Sunday!
they are waist high despite the heavy browsing and lack of rain in July and August.

here is a shot of the Possum stand

and a view from the stand of the little staging area I created for the deer

5 years ago there were four large cedar trees here.
the buck came from the right and was in the middle of the four birches when I shot him. Its 23 paces to the spot he was standing . The opening he went thru and later fell down in is in the upper left.

Hello Jim, This is a great tread. Charlie told me that you got a great buck. Pictures do not lie. A dandy buck indeed. Your hard work and scouting paid off. The sugery went well, But will not be able to pull my bow for 6 more days, but I will be able to see them coming now. when seasons come to a close, I would love to get together since our places are not that far apart.
Congrats again on a great hunt.

was all dressed to go ut this am at 5 30 am then I got rained out!!

Idid some more practice yesterday with Anubis and his long bow limbs. Also changed my arrow set up . Slimmed them to down  95 grains on the front end. Shooting the same shafts but with 50 grain inserts rather than 100. Werewolfe single bevels weighing 145. Now my arrow weighs in at 516 instead of 606.

Congrats on the nice buck Jim! I am looking forward to following along again this year. Nice to get that buck tagged early in the season! Helps letting those marginal bucks walk! Good luck on a fat doe and guiding for your friends!!!

Good afternoon Jim, I heard that a neighbor got MR X. Sorry to hear that, I know you have been looking for him this year. One dream now gone, I hope he has some off spring coming along behind him so you can start a new one.

Great to Catch up finally on the full story. Loved sharing it even though Im on the other side of the world and behind a computer screen.

True hunters Congratulations Jim. Walked around all day with a smile on my face when I got the Picture of your Buck!

Lots and lots of hard work, good management and time on the ground hunting to get it done.

I feel privileged to have hunted there with you and lots of fond memories there.

Keen to see how you go for the rest of the season.
