all though I had great success last year with my Widow KBX named "El Uno" i am going to hunt with the bow i have been shooting all summer getting ready to elk hunt with.

It is a hills country bobcat. I have both the hy bred long bow limbs and recurve limbs for it. Currently I have the recurve limbs on . The bow is 56 inches long.is 46 lbs at 28 inches. It is my favorite wood combo of cocobolo and osage orange. Both woods are darkening up nicely.
 

my arrows are CE heritage 150's with 100 grain brass inserts and a 200 grain double bevel werewolf BH made by Eclipse. This set up weighs in at 599 to 606. I shoot hand cut 2.25 inch feathers set in a 4 fletch. EFOC is right at 28%

Good luck this weekend. I'm not too far from ya, grew up and hunt by Forestville state park. Looks like the pieces are coming together for you. Youre right, we sure could use more rain.

As Jamie suggested here is a photo of our "5th pine"
one of our beloved whites was dead 50 feet up. We had to take it down before it fell on the house. One of my great buddies is a carver. This is a work in process and not quite finished as of yet. I traded John the carvable wood for one carving. Perhaps I will need to change the name of the farm to 4 pines and a fish farm!

And so it begins. In 11 short hours I'll be climbing into a tree stand some where on the farm and start my 37th whitetail bow season . The last 28 have been traditional only.

Below is my favorite flower. Its an English Aster, but I have come to think of it as the bow hunter's flower , because it is always in full bloom just as our season gets underway.

When the work day was done, I went down to the yurt and did a little organizing and cleaning.
 

 and I thought of a better way to display the moose antlers

I shot some arrows for one last preseason practice session. these are from 15 yards. white feathered shaft has the practice broad head and was my first arrow of the day

 

and lastly laid out my gear for the morning. the coffee pot will be on at five am!

here is the score card as we begin the 2013 season.
 

If your season begins in the morning, may your bow arm be strong and your arrows fly true. Remember respect for your quarry should be your highest priority. May all of your seasons be memorable! Good hunting everyone.
