Could I be a 1 or 2 bow guy?
« on: September 03, 2013, 04:17:00 PM »
This time of the year as the season approaches, I tend to narrow my shooting to one or two bows that are usually very similar to gain consistency... It always gets me thinking, why not just go to these two bows all the time and sell off the rest?  I really like the nastalgia of using the same bow year in and year out... But, looking at my bow rack I always seem to have a rotating stock...  With a few exceptions that always seem to stay with me...

For now, I don't see me being the 1 or 2 bow guy, but I really wish I could... right now anyway...

My wife says I have a bow fetish. When ever she gripes I tell her to hush up or I will trade her in on two 25 year olds.

That usually gets her off griping about all my bows  :)

Naw, never a one or two bow guy, but I am a two bowyer guy, Schafer Silvertips for recurves, got 4 on the rack and one on order, and Cari-Bow for longbows, got two on the rack and keep looking at a special one on Abe's in stock page, may have to pull the trigger if it is still there after hunting season.

Felix,

I envy you.

If I had kept every bow I ever owned I would have close to 200 on the rack,LOL and would have to build an addition to the house to store them and probably have a very mad wife, LOL, but I just tell her, I do not drink, smoke or look at other women so my vice is not so bad. So many beautiful bows.

It would be tough to have only one or two bows.  I am trying, but it isn't easy.  Especially with all the great bows for sale.

My Dad tried using that line on my Mom one time except he said two 20 year olds...She responded "You aren't wired for 220"

I love bows too much to be just a 2 bow person.

Jeff, you know me, I have traded and bought well over 100 custom bows and had as many as 10-12 customs at one time. I now have 2 bows that are my go to and have sold off all the others. I still have a couple Bears and an Old Wing and 2 selfbows but they are more just sentimental. I now have a Caribow Tuktu EX 58" and a Belcher/Border Hex-6H ILF that are my two go to bows. I have them set up to shoot the exact same arrow as well which keeps it simple. I can grab either one and be very confident!! You should try it, you could take all the money from selling those bows and go on a Grizzly Bear Hunt!! I know its tough my friend!! Shawn

It's fun buying, selling, trading and trying different bows. Hunt with your favorites and enjoy the rest!

During hunting season, its just one bow for me. I have several others that I could swap that bow with and be right on the mark. The rest are there for my enjoyment, to look at and fondle after hours. In the spring and late winter I will take them out and shoot with them. I might pick one for the next year and if so it will be my bow all summer leading up to season also.
Limit myself to 1 or 2, never.

Fighting the same battle right now. Nothing finer than a beautifully crafted bow, a true work of art and I have more than a few in the stable    :)    I'm heading to Missouri the end of the month to hunt the Kennym lease and I won't know what I'll be shooting until the truck pulls out of the driveway, it'll be two of something    :dunno:

One wife and many bows works for me...  :D  ... Although I did fall out of love with many of my recurves and am now turning into a reflex-deflex longbow guy...    ...

Dig them Kanati, Vortex, Hummingbird and Shrew bows!

I can only have one main shooter and a back up. I hate to say it but it drives me nuts having more than that.
