For lighter recurves, tab and for heavier longbows, glove. For more sensitive bows a tab will work better for most.

I try a tab every now and then, but I always go back to a glove. Feels better to me.

Have shot a glove since I started but recently (at Sawmill) a group of us drove across the road to shoot the off-site course and I forgot my glove so I shot the course bare-fingers after I got over the fear of tearing my fingers up I got along fine, my fingers were sore until early the following week but I kept shooting and prefer the different "feel" of the string at release and I believe it has cleaned up my release quite a bit. I think it's an option not a lot of people try or think about I wouldn't have tried it if I didn't have to but I'm glad it happened.

I only "hunt" field and 3D targets but I have a glove that is over twenty years old and I love it. Very well worn in. I can easily change from split to three fingers under. Plus works great on my 40" compound bow when I drop the index finger after I anchor. The only tab that I have found that I would use is the black widow palm.

Well, after spending 25+ years with a glove I started experimenting with a tab in 2011. My consistency jumped to a whole new level. I am now a tab man. I like the thought of a glove in hunting situations, but I get a better feel and cleaner release with a plain old calf hair tab that doesn't have the hard spacer on it.

I've shot both and a tab is way smoother and cleaner release for me. I shot tighter groups instantly. Tab all the way

Tab.....the problem for me with gloves is the finger tips are not flush the fingers. I bet at least an eighth inch of leather beyond the actual finger tip. This messes with both my anchor and release.
