Due to several leather projects I had to finish first, I am way behind schedule getting ready for the Missouri archery season which opens on 9/15. I always make a new dozen arrows to hunt with but I was beginning to think that I was going to have to hunt with OLD arrows this season. Somehow, I was able to finally get these guys done this weekend.
This year, I went with a more muted, traditional look. The shafts are ash and are stained with aniline dyes. I used Jerry Shriver's flamecrester templates to burn the designs on them. The shafts are sealed with several coats of spar varnish and the feathers used are 5" LW shield cut Gateways in Tre-Orange and Tre-Yellow. The points are 190 grain field points and 200 grain Ace Super Express broadheads. Total arrow weight is around 750 grains.
