No. I get all my flame cresting done, stain the shafts and then straighten them. Sometimes the heat will really warp a shaft and sometimes they are as straight as can be.

I used to do my flame cresting after I stained the arrows but ran into some problems. You have to wet the templates down constantly to keep them cool and I kept dripping water on the shafts when I did this. The dripped water would sometimes cause the dye to run or discolor.
