Helms Deep and long draw length
« on: September 09, 2013, 02:38:00 PM »
I am on the list for a bow from Javaman.  I have a 30 draw length and wonder if the 56 in Helms Deep can handle it without stacking or should I go with the Assyrian?

You should ask the Bowyer.

I have a 56" Shrew that Gregg built, it does not stack at all at 30+.

Gregg knows how to build them short bows and make them feel longer than they are.

I want one of his Falcons next, 60".

The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

I have been in contact with him and he has been great about answering my questions.  This will be my first custom bow and I guess I'm just getting antsy as my turn gets closer.

56" Helms Deep at 30" no problem. I draw 30" and one of my favorites is a 56" Bowbolt Lil Favorite. The Lil Favorite is Gregg's design and the Helms Deep is the exact same bow. Super smooth and packs a punch. I had a few at 54" and they were just a touch short for a 30" draw but manageable. The 56" is perfect and you'll have a hard time finding a better guy to deal with.

It's fun, isn't it?  Like Christmas eve for adults.
