Arrows for wife's bow???
« on: September 21, 2013, 10:12:00 AM »
I want to set up a few arrows for my wife to hunt small game and maybe a goat.  She has a Habu Vyperkahns 35lbs at 28". I have some 125 grain woodsman elites.  I'm thinking of getting some Easton axis shafts so I can use some 50 or 75 grain inserts.  Easton's chart only lets me go to 150 point weight.  For those in the know, would you recommend the 500's or the 600's?

600's are the way to go.  Leave them full length and reduce the length as you tune.  You'll find the sweet spot!

Is she drawing 28"?  .600 spine carbons are a very versatile shaft.  Usually pretty easy to tune too.

Ok. I'm looking at getting her to 40lbs at her draw length. Can I stick with the 600s?

Yes!

I shoot full length 600's ( GT traditionals) with my 45 lbs recurve. I draw 29 inches and the bow delivers around the 48 then.
I use standard GT inserts ( 11.5 grains)  and a 100 grains field tip. Nock weight is 25 grains, cresting weighs 15 grains and I use three 5 inch fletches.
They fly perfect.
