Congrats, very well done. Love the story.

AWESOME! Heavy fixed blade broadheads get the job done! Seems half the compound shooters recite the same line: "I know I hit it good, but those expandables might have failed!"    That or "I was shooting from 30 feet up - I might have only got one lung!"

Yeah, that 300 FPS speed sounds great in theory.

BTW nice to see I'm not alone wearing plaid for camo. I think I'm the only trad guy hunting here on Fort Gordon GA. And to sweeten the deal I'm hunting from the ground. I go to the mandatory sign in/out station and I see a line of pickup trucks (most new) with tree stands in the back, the hunters with all the best new camo - shiny polyester I think. I'm the oddball driving a Neon (I have a big trunk, a doe will fit in it nicely) packing a longbow and hunting at eye level in brush and branches blinds. Some have pop-ups though, which are pretty much a sauna this time of year.

Congrats on a great animal, nice job. I also have a 72 or 73 Ben Pearson Cougar, it was my dad's. I prefer longbows, but will be carrying it some this year to try an harvest a deer with it for sentimental reasons. He never hunted but bought the bow so he could shoot with me in the backyard when I was a little kid.
