gluing feathers on carbon

Hey guys I'm making my first dozen Beman MFX from full length shafts. I planned to whipe real good with acetone and use Bohning platinum fletch-tite. Sound OK? I have duco too but was just saving it for the woodies. Thanks, jim

Yep use wraps with fletchtite. Some sort of super glue without wraps.

I use a green scouring pad then clean with rubbing alcohol. I use Platinum fletch-tite and I do not have a problem.

I use the Martin glue, and they stay on forever....DONE with Platinum.

I always use wraps. They look good and are easier to remove, when re-fletching.

There is a product called 'Zap-A-Gap,' and it is the best for feathers on carbon.  Works in seconds, holds forever.  I found it in the fishing section, I think it's made for fixing fishing rods, strong stuff!

You should be fine. I've been fletching carbons for several years. I agree with the others, use arrow wraps because it is easier to refletch the arrows...

Don't use fletch tite. Try one of the super glue gels....holds way better and much faster. Fletch tite platinum  looses feathers faster than any glue I have tried.

I use a very fine sandpaper and wipe clean with a dry paper towel, and use the Platinum Fletch Tite and have never had a problem with feathers coming off.

Just LIGHTLY sand the area for the feathers....no need to get aggressive.

I will use wraps and Platinum also...but if I am out of wraps, the sandpaper works just fine.

Bob Smith Industries Maxi Cure from Lancasters ins the best I have ever used.  Sets in 10 seconds and I have never lost a feather or vane for that matter.

i use wraps and super glue gel..even when i was glueing them onto bare carbons, ive never had the super glue come off, even after soaking a feather in a creek overnight    :rolleyes:

I just wipe em down good with alcohol. then platinum fletch-tite. never a problem

Thanks for the replays guys. I footed carbon for the first time. I was so excited to try it I bought easton legacy 2020 with the brown wood grain... looks great. I love the MFXs with the heave inserts but have split and splintered a lot Of them hitting hidden rocks and stumps that looked soft at 20 yards... lol now let's see. If you guys didn't see the video of a trad member shooting footed and unfooted carbons into concrete... its impressive!

Fletch tape for every shaft here.    was skeptical until i bought some.  Now its all ill use.  Stick a feather n move on.  touch a dab of glue to feather ends when done..

Super gell , goat tuff, steel force, carbon express have all worked good as well..

I use fletch tite platinum on my black gold tips and never have feathers come off!

That was Yononindo that made the video of the footed vs nonfooted arrows.

Hey James, you had a chance to shoot any critters with those broadheads yet?
