Quick story about this morning.....Another less than ten yard shot was taken.....But we did not hang a deer on the big oak this time.. :( ... So yesterday morning after our sit brother Andy had a feeling about this pond I had pointed out to him the day before. We walked down to it and there was a perfect spot, which is now called the "rabbit hole". Just a perfect natural ground blind for a north or west wind so we trimmed a couple shooting lanes and got out of there. After getting a little rain last night and the wind blowing out of the west he knew exactly where he was headed this morning. He got settled in and had a show of raccoons playing in the water at dim light when he heard a deer cough and got ready. The buck walked in stopping perfect in the shooting lane, but the shot was rushed and impacted low and to far forward. As best as we can tell he hit low in the brisket. Feathers were clean except 3 or 4 gray hairs on 2 of them. We picked up blood after 25 or 30 yards and he walked over 200 yards with just drops of blood till he clotted up. He jumped 2 ravines in the process and never stopped or laid down once and he was not pushed. We had waited over 3 hours before we looked. Anyway tough day for all of us when something like that happens, so a lot of us know how he is feeling today. We have had a lot of other close encounters as well and it's just a matter of time. P.S. Kenny is a great host and has a heck of a good thing going here!!
