Glad to see all the hero pics & congrats to all. Didn't get out this week. Had to take my dog to the vets & just couldn't stop worrying about my baby. Good luck to all.

Opening day of muzzleloader season here in my neck of the woods.
I went from being the only one around to everyone and their brother in the same 1/4 mile area....
Shots going off left and right
Counted six shots before 7:30
After that it got ridiculous
I walked out at 9 am and was a little nervous doing so even though I was wearing my blaze orange

Went out this morning... Cleaned all the new growth out of the Stone Circle. Saw 1 deer when I first got there, but all I saw was it's tail going over the hill, Lmao!!! I set there untill noon.....

My friend Dean txtd me that he had left around 10:30, So I decided to sneak around & do alittle scouting. I found an opening in the stone wall with a big White Oak a few yards away... In about a 1/2 hour, I had layed up a few stones & had a comfortable seat!!! I sat for about an hour and needed to get up & stretch..... That was when I saw a deer's head pop up!!! (Uhhh, What was that?) The wind was right in my face and it couldn't wind me, but it sure did see me MOVE!!!!! I froze, and he whatched... (it was the small 4 pointer Tyler & I saw last weekend) Finally, he made up his mind & moved off... Then he came back!!!!! The wind was still blowing toward me and he just couldn't get my scent..... But, he was DANG SURE, he had seen SOMETHING!!!!! We played "hide & peek" for about a 1/2 hour, and then he trotted off. Never giving me a shot...

That's OK, I've still got lots of vacation time left!!!!!  :bigsmyl:
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!

I was lucky enough to shoot this buck last weekend while hunting with my good friend Mike Manassa. Second deer from the same stand this year.

I used my trusty 45# Rick Welch Dakota Hunter recurve and Sitka Spruce Arrows.

Killed a big doe Fri AM at my buddies hunting cabin, my shot was too far back so we let her lay until 3:00.With much prayers we were able to find her quickly she only went 100 yards,it was a good lesson for me on how to handle a poorly hit deer .I shot her with my homemade hybrid longbow I call "Hulk" at #55 and GT blems with Simmons Safaris up front.

Congrats Rick!  Congrats Gerald.

I had a doe at 10 yards this morning. Couldnt get a shot. She was behind a wall of brush and then tried to come through it straight at me.  she was up hill from me and about eye level from me in my tree stand.  she saw me and took 4 steps backward behind the thick brush and back out to the feild.  5 minutes later she came back looking for me to see if she really seen something that wasnt supposed to be there.
Relax,

Getting ready to go out this morning. I haven.t gotten in a tree stand yet this year. Fri. evening I hunted my new found location near where I work. I made a quick ground blind in the goldenrod field I was hunting. Had a yearling Doe come within 10 yds. The only shot I had was at her head. She looked small, so I didn't shoot. The area has good deer numbers, but also other hunters. Still hoping for a nice Doe.............. or Buck! Hunting a spot on the state land down the road from me this morning. I haven't hunted it in a couple years. We'll see what happens. Waiting for the bucks to start tending.
