Great job David, gotta love a trad buck!

Sean B- I actually thought I saw a fisher around Dingle Hill in Andes. Turned around and went back but whatever it was was gone. Bummer!

I see you guys talking about Fisher. I have them around here. Iv; seen two and one dead along the road. My brother watched one come down a tree from 15 yds away while sitting near my TeePee. We are starting to get some Bobcats around as well. Steuben county, thought you may like to know.

I have heard that the Fisher are putting a dent in the turkey population. I heard they take them right off the roost. Don't know if it's a fact. I have seen them for years hunting up north now is seems they are every where. Going to do a mid day still hunt/scout tomorrow, just to see what I can see.

Drive some to me Izzy. I haven't seen anything on stand yet this morning.  Even the chipmunks slept in

Took a walk/scout on the state land near me at mid day. Was out for about 2 1/2 hours and was surprised to see some good sign. 2 good scrapes that were fairly fresh. That's pretty good since the deer aren't really bumping into each other around here...lol! The wind was nuts...... swirling, changing direction, just hard to play. When I left I took a ride around the area......not one other vehicle.

Unable to bow hunt this year, have to have shoulder surgery in about 6 weeks so Jim (stone knife) took pity on me and took me duck hunting. While we were working our way around the back of one of the ponds a real nice 8pt. probably at least a 2 1/2 year old just stood in front of us at 40 yards what a sight. Cant wait till I can finally shoot again, this is only the second bow season I've ever missed.

Thanks David, Jim is a great guy. This is going to be the second surgery in 8 years on the same shoulder, I guess to many years of shooting a heavy bow and working heavy construction are catching up on me. I think it might be slowly sinking in that I'm not 20 anymore, guess I'm a slow learner.

Raining here this morning, 50% chance of rain today and all this next week. All the moisture makes for some tough hunting, and besides, I hate hunting in the rain. If I hadn't already filled my buck tag I could be hunting for a mature buck. The thing is, this often happens every fall. Come rut time the weather go's sour. Hopefully the last week of October and the first week of November will see good weather for all my NY trad brothers. Personally, I hate hunting in the rain, maybe I can get out this evening and hunt for that fat Doe I'm looking for. If I do, I'll be a mile down on the state land with a long drag up hill. Always a possibility of seeing a black bear too. Go get em guys! Did I mention I hate hunting in the rain?

Congrats to everyone who has taken a deer so far. Haven't been out much yet as my moose hunt took a big chunk of the season so far but got out yesterday and today. Had two nice eight pointers chasing the does all around today but never came quite close enough.

Alex hope you have a quick recovery.

Crotch Horn sorry for your loss, been there and know the pain . Some time in the woods is good for the soul.

Got out about 3;30 this afternoon. Still hunted a section of state land I haven;t hunted since last year. Kicked up two deer I believed to be bucks by where they were and where they were headed. Then shortly before reaching my vehicle, two young deer stepped out in a firebreak. I was perched along the edge behind a blow down when they appeared. One of the deer worked it's way to within 25 yrds of me. I had a broadside shot but didn't drop the string as it was a little to dark and the deer looked just a tad on the small side. That's the second opportunity Iv' had from the ground this year. I'm having a good year despite not having a lot of time to hunt. Man I love my deer hunting. Wind was blowing right to those last two deer and they never smelled me. I'm consistently getting close to deer on the ground.......I love it!

Thanks Bob I just want to get this over with, its been steadily getting worse for two years I tried the usual roots physical therapy and cortisone injections with only minor relief. Told the doctor Id be happy shooting a high 40 to low 50 lbs bow I cant even shoot my wife's 37 lbs bow right now.

Alex sorry about your shoulder, I was wondering why you had not put one on the ground yet. I met a one armed guy at the Hawkeye bowshoot who would sit on the ground and pull his bow with his only arm and shoot, and I am telling you he was DEADLY! I think I would do that if I had too.
