Gerald I'll have to keep that in mind for next year, I'll have to design and build a bow with a boot stirrup. I actually hit and lost a 6pt in the beginning of the season and that lead to the decision to lay off for the rest of the season. The pain that occurs upon the release was effecting my accuracy but I was in denial up until that point, I came  to the point that I shouldn't be hunting and made a appointment with the surgeon. Hopefully the 6pt and I will recover completely and we will have a chance meeting in the future. Even if I cant hunt I hope to bring the dogs out for our second annual rabbit hunt.

Had two does feeding right up to me last night, then two buck started to fight making the does nervous. No shots but it was a blast. I'll be out today   :bigsmyl:  deer are moving good now.

Cooler weather seems to be getting things fired up.I missed a big doe(shot low) while hunting on the ground Saturday. Friday I watched a nice 8pt work a scrape and then walk under me at 5yds.Guess I shouldn't have shot a small 6pt 2nd week and used up my buck tag. Every day new scrapes are showing up in our small woods and I've seen three different bucks. I've been seeing a few turkeys too but haven't had a shot except when a couple went to roost by me and I didn't want to shoot a $16 carbon/broadhead into space.

AWESOME new property! had a spike feeding right in front of me at 6 yards for 20 minutes or so with 2 big does just out of range. only draw back to the new piece is the land owner (150 acres) is a trophy hunter and asked me to please pass on anything under a 6 point but told me to punch my doe tags if i can!

I banned myself from shooting Does 6 years ago. Coyotes where taking a toll. I went hunting for an hour after work. When I got home, three Does were in my field. This is the second year with no coyote around. Another year or two and their numbers should come back.Males won't come around or stay around very long without the ladies! I'm hunting for a Doe right now. But not on my land.

I saw three bucks and a doe last night.  The only one that presented a shot was a 2.5 year old 8 point at 13 yards.  My arrow deflected off an unseen branch and was sent harmlessly downward and stuck in the dirt. He didn't spook much as I watched him feed for another 5 minutes after the missed shot. I hope he comes back tonight.  Awesome encounter.

I've had deer in front of me the last two days I hunted but the situations weren't quite right for a shot. On Friday afternoon, 3 does came down the trail but veered off away from me and into some cover that was not conducive to a shot. They stayed relaxed the whole time and just meandered away so they didn't bust me...just bad luck I guess. Yesterday a doe came flying thru like her tail was on fire. Thought for sure she was being chased by the buck who made the scrape line I've been hunting...but no such luck. Will give it another try on Friday. Good luck to all

Wow, was it snappy this morning. 22 degrees when I left the house at 5:15. At 8 am I had 2 does cruise by out of range. Squirrels were having a party all around me, but not much else going on.

Was in my stand nice and early this morning. Beautiful morning, the kind I love, a little grey. I'm still trying to figure these woods out since "Sandy" changed them a bit.  I kicked a few out in the dark on my walk in.  I didn't see anything on stand.  Ion the way out, I found a bunch of very Large scrapes.  They are in the middle of some blow downs.  I may have to ground it out there on Thursday!

Thanks for the well wishes. I will see my Jessie again. She was a great girl. This is the first time I have been on since posting. Have not been out with the bow yet. I have hunted a little at my property in the northern zone with a gun. My one brother doesn't bow hunt so I've hunted with him. Hoping to get back at it next week. Good luck out there everyone.
