After spending six of the first nine days of November in the woods with zero rut activity and only seeing 1 1/2 year old bucks this guy came into a scrape that I doctored up with some Smokeys tarsal gland scent last night. He has a broken tine and a hole in his ear so he tangled with somebody. Heart shot and saw him go down. I can't understand the complete lack of rut activity ? Guys an hours drive away have had a rut frenzy going on for over a week. Sorry about the poor picture I didn't know how to use the flash on my phone then the battery died ! Good luck less than a week until the orange army invades and if the rut starts then they are going to kill allot of deer.

Bob that's a nice looking deer congratulations. I have been seeing a lot of mature bucks on the move while I've been driving , saw a monster along rt.490 near exit 3(Churchville). One more month till surgery all I can look forward to is hunting with a muzzle loader.

3 1/2 hour sit this AM.......Saw a doe and her skipper, at 8:30 I thought I was going to have a shot but the wind was fickle and they just backed out slowly. At 9:00 a real nice 4 pt. got to with in 40 yards but again I think the wind did me in. None were spooked but just sneaked away. The forky was high and wide, nice for a young deer. Lots of squirrels.......

Nice job, Bob. He looks like an older buck that's been around the block a few times.
I'm seeing plenty of deer . . . at 40 yards.

Thanks guys. He was a scraper for sure besides the broken point and tore up ear I found a big hunk of skin skin hanging from over his right eye. Funny thing is there is zero rut action or did I miss it ?
Good luck to everyone and remember you can use your bow in gun season so it's not over. I shot my first trad deer on a Thanksgiving morning during gun season.
