When I was younger before wife and kids and the need/want to put more venison in the freezer I only hunted with my trad bow all through gun season as well,I got some real weird looks from guys who were toting guns, that was about a 10 period. But now with 6 people in my family we can eat about 5 adult deer a year.

Did not hunt for most of Oct. very bad shooting.  I shot the compound for the 1st time in years I hated it. Shooting this felt strange and my shooting was no better.  I kept shooting my recurve until I got some confidence. Hunting about 11 times out since late Oct. I  had a few close encounters but no shots. Sunday am 22yd broadside shot no blood for 1st 60 yards. Found deer  about 200 yards from stand. I would like to say hi to all my trad friends from Havoc and Mohawk Hudson.

Nice buck and a great shot. I still hunted Saturday thru a property I haven't spent much time on this year and had a good sized 7pt at less than 20yds in open woods. It was fun but no buck tag! Maybe next Saturday my Hawken will get to make some smoke with him.It won't be the same as my bow but I do enjoy using my old cap guns during gun season.I do respect those who stay with their sticks in gun season.

Congratulations Dan, I'm going to head out this afternoon to try for another doe because I need some jerky meat   ;)

Nice  buck Bob...I hear ya on the activity..I've seen a total of 4 does this season. Just got back a little while ago from an all day hunt and saw nothing but squirrels. The scrapes went cold, no rubs and no scat. It's like they vanished. A late rut maybe but it's really unusual for my area

This morning was my last bow hunt for a while. At 18 degrees I could barely get myself out of my safety harness my fingers were so numb. This was one of the quietest mornings all season. I saw 2 about 300 yards out in a cornfield and then nothing else. Monday was quiet too with only one bb that followed my scent drag all the way to my tree. Also saw 2 beautiful red fox hunting along a stone wall but they never got closer than 50 yards. Its been a fun season.

Izzy that squirrel would look good in a smoker. Last day before the big bang and I have to work   :(
