Wow been a while since I updated!
Still working nights, losing sleep, and still trying to hunt some.
I've had some good hunts, I wont bore you with most of them...but I would like to share this one from a couple weeks ago with Cade.
Ever since the week before thanksgiving last year, when I first laid eyes on this buck, I knew I wanted to kill him....BAD!
That day I first saw him, I had him within solid bow range, and only the fact that he was slightly quartering to me, before he picked me out in the skinny tree I climbed kept him alive.
I would see him 2 more times last season, but never remotely close to to shot range.
I figured he was 3 1/2 yrs old by the look of his big body, and even though he was fairly mature, he was just a 6 point....2 big forks, and two brow tines...I wanted him bad!!!
Anyone that knows me, knows I like the "oddball" bucks that others will pass up. Heck I killed two bucks in TX that were considered "cull bucks" by their standards.....I was ticked to get them!!
Cade and I thought and talked about the "Big 6" often through this year leading up the season.
I set a trail cam right under one of our stands in late September and didn't get a chance to check it or hunt the stand for over a month.
The "Big 6" was still alive and I got several pix of him.
I got a chance to hunt 3 times(by myself) down in this area in the next 2 weeks but never saw him.
Cade the whole time was saying he was going to kill the "Big 6"....
Well Cade finally got the chance to hunt this spot in Westchester county me, and guess who showed up first thing!
