Tradgang hunt 2014 Hogs and Javelina in Texas
« on: September 30, 2013, 03:21:00 PM »
Terry Green has indicated he would like to see another tradgang member hunt. I have taken the opportunity to visit with him about offering this hunt, not wanting to steal his thunder or trample on any of his plans.  He has a lot on his plate to be troubled with planning such a hunt and unneccessarily rushing a decision on where, when etc.  Terry has indicated his approval on our offering a group hunt whenever we can.  We are a Tradgang Sponsor and have hosted many Tradgang hunters over the past 4 years.   We have a week available for tradgang members only and are now scheduling a Tradgang only hunt.  5 days of hunting. Arrive on Saturday afternoon  Feb. 8, 2014 and begin hunting on Sunday  Feb 9.  We have bunk beds, shower, kitchen, corn, blinds, cleaning station, freezer etc. all provided.  Hunter is responsible for his own sleeping bag, pillow, towel, groceries and beverage, and you need a Texas nonresident hunting license.  Hunter safety card required unless you are old.  Our hunts are $750.00, 5 days hunting.  We can provide hot breakfast, sandwiches, fruit, chips for lunch and hot meal every night for an additional $100.00 per person. Texas sales tax applies.

We are still in elk hunting mode in Wyoming and will be concentrating on wrapping up our elk season for the next 2-3 weeks.  I will answer any questions by email or PM whenever I can get to a computer.  We do have bunk beds for 16 and a single bathroom.   With over 125 square miles on our leases, housing space is about the only limitation we have, no shortage of hunting opportunities.  If you are interested let me know and whether you want the meal plan or not.

That's a great deal. Wish I could make it but work responsibilities and deals that cannot be compromised will prevent me from going. I will look forward to the stories, and I wish all participants good hunting.

$250.00 deposit required to reserve spot.  No trophy fees.  No limit on hogs.  Limit one Javelina per license.  Javelina is regarded as a game animal in Texas.

Critter...my bet is ranch conservation....so others can have a decent population to hunt later.  Besides, once you kill one, you can concentrate on hogs....the REAL game animal.    :D

Javelina do not reproduce like hogs.  They have much lower recruitment rate.  Usually they will have 2 offspring once a year.  One of the babies will not usually survive the first year.  Javelina also have a different herd response to an injured member.  When a hog is hit with an arrow he squeals and every hog in the sounder will run away.  When a Javy squeals from injury the whole pack may come to him to see what is happening.   It is not uncommon to be able to kill more than one from the same encounter.   It seems that most bowhunters like knowing that they have good expectation to take a Javelina from this ranch and we want everyone to have the opportunity.  We have a good Javelina population on these ranches and I do not want to overharvest the resource.  We do have a generous policy on hogs, no limit and no trophy fees.

We just wrapped up our Wyoming hunting seasons.  Time to focus on Texas.  We still have openings for this hunt.
