New shooter and the old one
« on: September 30, 2013, 10:07:00 PM »
A few weeks ago my 7 yr old granddaughter came to my house and asked me to teach her to shoot a bow and arrow . I was surprised because her dad , my son was never interested while growing up . So I took her to the archery shop and got her a 10# draw bow and she caught on very quickly . A few weeks later My wife and I were near there home and delivered a K Mag to my son and told him that he should shoot with her . We all went to my parents farm a few miles away and got him shooting with his daughter . My father was watching and was wondering what they were doing . You see my father has dementia and doesn't remember very many things . He didn't remember that he shot a recurve and got me started when I was 6 yrs old in 1962 . My son told him " Grandpa you used to do this , show me how . " My dad took the K mag 45# and at 15yds drew only about 4in of pull , very shaky and hit 6 in hi and left of the bull . He took a second arrow and same short shaky pull hit 2in low and right . My dad said " That's it for me it hurts to much to pull that thing . I was done shooting for the day because I couldn't see very good . I got to see first and last arrows shot the same day .

Isn't it amazing how the seemingly little things are SO important? Great memories for so many right there in just a few arrows time...
