My new to me JD Berry and another on the way. (Pics)
« on: September 30, 2013, 10:12:00 PM »
After reading several threads and posts about Mr. JD Berry and his bows, last week I decided to pull the trigger and order one. I called and talked to Mr. Berry, and it was a pleasure, he is quite the fellow. I really enjoyed talking with him, great guy and very friendly. Anyway I decided after talking with James to order a 68" Misty Dawn, and James says it is going to be a looker. In the mean time another great fellow on Tradgang listed his new Vixen for sale and I jumped on it. I got it today and so far I really love it. It is 68" with Zebra wood under clear glass on belly, with black glass on the back, with a Bubinga riser. The bow shoots smooth and hard and I really like the craftsmanship Mr. Berry puts into his bows. Now I look forward to getting my Misty Dawn, the wait will kill me. Lol... Here are some Pics of my Vixen.

I've never had the chance to handle  one of these beauties but I've yet to see one that doesn't look great. I really like the slim lines on the belly glass - if I'm not mistaken they're trapped and then really lean out  when rising up the fades? Very similar to a few Sunset Hills I've seen in that regard....

Enjoy the new stick!

TJ,
That is one sexy looking bow. The vixen I got from James is the bow that set me on my JD Berry addiction. The vixen is just an absolute joy to shoot and in buying ,selling and trading upwards of 20 different American longbows I finally found the majic combination in the Vixen.
You can see the trap in the belly pretty good in your picture and it is just flat out impressive when you see it up close and personal.   I have 3 other models of James bows but the Vixen in hands down just plain perfect.   I'm trying to close on my house in Muhlenburg county as we speak so hopefully ill be able to hook up with you can shoot yours. HA!!

Enjoy.  Oh and you'll love the Misty dawn too I'm sure

That beautiful bow couldn't have found a better home. Really glad you got it Tom!! No one can trap a limb like JD Berry. He has an awesome eye and talent for making bows. I got my new Morning Star a couple weeks ago and it blows my mind the way it shoots. I've been trying to take some pictures to post but keep getting glare from the flash. Maybe tomorrow will be a sunny and dry day for outside pictures.

Beautiful bow.  I really like that black glass.  I know your going to love both of your Berry Bows...  I was just out shooting my Vixen today.  Love that bow - puts a smile on my face every time I get to shoot'er.

Have fun and watch that the Berry bows don't turn into a full-on addiction!

Tom, do you have anything you are interested in selling. Most of your specs are very close to mind. Bill
