2013 elk
« on: October 07, 2013, 06:47:00 PM »
I killed this bull a little over a week ago on a backpack hunt. A few cow calls and a well placed arrow and he was down. The shot was a total pass through, and the arrow was buried about 10" into the hillside on the far side. I used a 64" 56# Black Canyon 2pc take down longbow and a douglas fir arrow tipped with a 160gr VPA three blade.  Total arrow weight was 620grains.

Complete pass through on an elk and a stick bow. Gotta love it. We definitely don't need compounds.

Kadbow, The only thing that I would have done differently regarding the bow is to order it sooner!! I shot the bull on the evening of day nine of the hunt and finished packing it out in a little snow storm. Good hunt.
