Thoughts on Tree Sharks for light bows

I am looking into the Simmons heads.
I started hunting with Magnus 2 blades but did not like the blood trails. For the last few seasons I have used Woodsmans with success. Today I managed to distroy yet another woodsman tip and it is time to order new heads.
I shoot 200 grains upfront on carbons out of 38# and 40# bows pulling 24". Simmons does not make a 200 grain but the Tree Sharks fall in close at 190. Just wondering if the ultra wide Tree Sharks would be a good fit or should I look to the less wide Simmons heads?  Thanks!

Just out of curiosity, on what did you destroy the Woodsman tip?

The glue on Tree Shark is 165 so with the long Alu adapter your finish weight is just 200 with the glue.
Anyway the Tiger Shark can work great with your set up.

Something to think about would be getting some weighted inserts, try 75gr insert with the 125gr shark. Or there is endless options on the glue on points with BH adapters in different weights.

On the lighter poundage I would definitely recommend using the smaller Sharks for better penetration.

I curled a bunch of woodsmans before I started putting tanto tips on them.

If you have had good results with the woodsmans I would stick with them. A lot of cutting surface with the long lean 3 blade woodsman. (Great penetration even at low poundage) Going back to a 2 blade IMO will get you the same results as before..Henry

I use the 190 intercepter with great results. using 165 land sharks out of my 44# bow. 3 shots 3 pass throughs 3 deer

The first Woodsman pinned a squirrel to a tree. Should have know better!  Today I was just tuning and my block is very worn. The arrow went though and stuck into the tree behind it. Barely in the tree so I was shocked when I pulled the arrow and the entire tip of the broadhead was broken.

I can get a Simmons Safari glue on and use an adapter to hit 200 grains. Any info on the Safari heads?

If you really do like the profile of the woodsmans take a look at the VPA's Very strong head.

I'd use the interceptor or safari head in that poundage.

Katie, if you can get them sharp I think you would have no trouble with the big tree sharks. I've only shot turkeys with them but I'm going to try them out on deer. They are a BIG 2 blade head but they will still have less resistance during penetration than any 3 blade I think. I've shot deer with woodsmans and a 42 pound bow with no trouble. I would expect the same results with the big tree sharks.

I prefer the safari head for my lighter bow but shot a couple deer with the tree shark last year.  Landshark 160 said he was going to hunt the rest of the year with a 45 pound bow and tree sharks. As many deer as he kills we will soon have the answer!

The screw in safari is 205gr and some sharpening will take some off. A few grains won't make a bit of difference. This is my first year with simmons and I choose the safari over the larger ones. If I find I'm blowing through em with this head I might step up next year. These heads seem plenty big though. Lol

Yes. Hopefully Landshark 160 will chime in. He has a ton of experience with these heads.
