Didn't read all the posts so I might have said the same as others...

Good choice on wanting to go with wool. You won't regret it.

Wool is so comfortable as base layer and dries much faster than any cotton. and it does not hold odors like synthetics will. If you can't hang stuff outside to dry then hang inside and put a fan on it to help it dry faster.

For misty light rains a wool jacket and pants are so much nicer than rain gear. For heavy rain you still want a rain jacket.
