Hey,

I am going to be picking out my first set of broadheads for a Trad bow here in a few weeks and I wanted to ask a question.  I know a LOT of people use the old standby Bear RazorHeads and they have prolly taken more game than any other head, but when I look at pictures of them it APPEARS that the point isn't very sharp.  In so many threads about broadheads the one thing that is stressed is that to make sure you have a "cut on contact" head.  From what I've read many will sharpen their Bear heads right when they get them, but I am wondering if they redo the point and make it shapr as well.

So can you all tell me if the Bear heads NEED the point sharpened when you get them and whether you do it?  If you have pics of a before and after you could post that would be great.

Thanks for the time and help.

The tip should be chisle tiped or rounded but still sharp.  not pointed to keep the tip from bending in case a hard bone is hit it has a better chance of breaking the bone and penetrating into the goodies

I've got the old glue-ons and I sharpen them out to the point. The newer ones are beveled and everyone keeps 'em that way. Good luck !!
