Hello everyone!
I`m moving the next weekend, so today I sorted out things from the basement and found my first bow. It`s a Samick Verna 40# @ 28", a copy of the Black Widow longbows. I got it for christmas several years ago, but I still like it very much. Thank you mom and dad!

My first bow: little stick bow with red & blue stripes and cotton string (rubber suction cup arrows).
First hunting bow: 42# fiberglass Shakespeare "Strato-Jet."
First "modern" bow: 46# Browning "Nomad."
Don't have the suction cup arrows, but I still have the three bows.

I still have the old green Ben Pearson Fiberglass #33 recurve. I missed my first buck with that bow. My son used it at Compton this year.

I don't have my first bow. Mom and Dad gaveit to me in 1956 or 57. I was about 8 or 9 years old. It was a 25 # wood bow. I don't remember if it had fiberglass on it or not. That one cracked thru the handle one day about 3 years after I got it. I don't remember what happened to it after that. Mom and Dad gave a solid fiberglass Ben Pearson, 35 # in 1960 or early 1961. I shot it for 3 or 4 years. That one I still have. I strung it recently and pulled it a few times. Brought back some memories.... Jim.

My first bow was a bamboo bow made by my dad who doesnt know a thing about bows when I was 5.Got my first real bow,ben pearson one piece recurve,64" 3o# when I was 15 and its still with me.But its too twisted to be used now, thanks to years of dry firing beacause I didnt know any better way back then and had no one to teach me but myself.

Dad started us on the old Bear fiberglass blue and red bows, but my first 'real' bow (and the first I bought) was a Herter's Sitka or Sambar (have to check, it's at home), 29# at 24". Probably circa 1973? Still have that bow. Needs to be refinished but it's still a sweet looking bow.

My first bow was a training-wheel equipped Browning with which I had little fun. I sold the thing after my first season with it and used the proceeds to purchase an old 55# DH Hunter recurve.
That one I still have and it still hunts in spite of a slight twist in the lower limb. It still shoots better than I do. :-p

Still have my first hunting weight bow: a Bear Grizzly, 50#; probably early '70s vintage. First bow ever was a white fiberglass Bear with a red grip; I believe it's still in the cellar at the homeplace....need to hunt that one down for old time's sake.

I have all of mine, even the ones that have broke. My first however was a compound and I still have it. My first trad bow I left strung in my truck on a hot summers day.

I just bought back my first traditional bow! It's 10 lbs. lighter than what I shoot now but I just had to have it back-the sentimental value was worth more than the cash. I bought it 7 years ago. Pristine condition, Dream Catcher. I can't believe what they want for them now! I paid $380 new!

My first bow was/is a 1957 Bear Kodiak Special 64" and 45# @ 28". Still have it and in fact I wrote a note about it in January 2004 that is now in the "Classics" section. Still a nice bow. I still shoot and it is still proudly displayed.
