Modify ILF limb butt?
« on: October 16, 2013, 02:05:00 PM »
I just got some Black Max limbs for a Morrison Phoenix riser, but the limb pads seem to be too wide to fit all the way in. I'm talking a TINY bit too wide.

Has anyone every sanded ILF limb butts (just a tad) to get them to fit a riser?

I strung the bow up and it shot ok, but I think the limbs could seat another 1/16th of an inch if I sanded the sides a bit.

Thanks for the replies.

If they snap in they should be OK but yes, I've heard of people sanding the butts down a tad to get them to fit into older Morrison phenolic risers. Just remember to reseal them.

If the taper of the limb pads are keeping them from seating all the way down against the ILF dovetail fitting, then that is not a good thing.
Yes sand them to fit and re-seal them.

I sanded a set.

Felt the same concern you do when I started, but it was easy to do.  The surfaces I sanded were wide enough that I could keep a sanding block flat on them without trouble.

Been there, done that. Shouldn't be a problem. Not all ILF limb butts are the same and some need a  wee bit of adjustment.

Must sand the butts on every set of limbs I've put on my Dryad ilf riser.
