The Birth of a Stalker Recurve for Cade...a build-a-long...
« on: October 16, 2013, 05:26:00 PM »
First off I'd like to thank both Ryan Sanpai and South Cox for the opportunity they've given Cade....I will never be able to thank them both enough and will forever be indebted to them both!!!

They've not only given Cade the opportunity to use and represent the   46 Rail  hunting clothing line, but they've also given him the opportunity to own and hunt an absolutely gorgeous   Stalker Recurve!!!!

I am beyond words about what they are doing for my boy....

Cade picked exactly what he wanted and South went to work!

As South has been building his bow, he's been great about sending pix so we can follow along....

Outlining the riser...
•

Cutting the phenolic flare...
•

Profiling the flare...
•

Profiling the back...
•

Ready for glue-up...
•

Out of the oven...
•

Drilling limb pin holes...
•

Sight window cut out...
•

A lot more to share...

•
•

Tapping for threaded inserts...
•

Limb lams ready for glue-up...
•

Gluing limbs...
•

Going into limb forms...
•

Is this going to be an awesome looking bow or what!!!!

more to come....

Limbs out of the oven...
•

Limb profiles marked out...
•

Drilling limb bolt holes...
•

Profiling limb butts...
•

Cutting throat of the grip...
•

Snakewood tips...
•

Bolted up and ready to tiller...
•

Cade wanted the grip modified...I sent South the riser from my original Silvertip the Paul built for me in '86 to match....a grip we both love...

South's stock grip on the left, Cade's grip on the right. I know this grip so well that I can tell from the pix that South nailed it!
•

Almost ready to hunt...
•

First coat of five...GORGEOUS!!!!!
•

As South sends more, I'll share them all...

I would also like to say now that South is an an absolute gentleman to talk to. His dedication and excitement about his work is easily recognized when talking to him....he's a really cool dude!!

That is quite a labor intensive process.  Outstanding workmanship. I am sure we haven't seen the last of this bow.

That is so cool. Good on you South. Looking at the process I am amazed at the talent it takes to make these custom bows. Can't wait to see that bow in a video with Cade taking an animal with it.
