New Talltines Review and a little time in the woods

This story actually begins several months ago.  I was wanting to try a new recurve.  I started looking at the two bows I had narrowed it down to.  I decided to get a test bow from Brian. When it arrived I was impressed with the mass weight. I strung it up and started shooting.  Dead center bulleyes with the preinstalled nock points.  It was dead silent and had no handshock whatsoever, And it was fast.  However the grip was just a little big in the palm. Well I returned the loaner.  About a month ago I saw a post From Manitoba Stickfliger about his with a low grip. The wheels started turning.  That could be the perfect grip for me.  I called Brian up to see if he had any bows ready to go.  At that point he had a riser and offered to build me a set of limbs.  Upon completion of the limbs (myrtle) they did not match the riser.  He called me up and said I am not sending you the bow like this it does not match at all.   He said I can however build you a bocote riser that will look much better with it.  I said ok shoot me a pic so I can see it.  This is what he sent.
   

Man it looked great to me.  A couple weeks later he said your bow will be going out Monday which was last Monday.  I would be here Wednesday (perfect timing for the fri-sun hunt).   He sent me another pic of it.  

     

Man that one fired me up two days later it arrived.   I had talked to Manitoba Stickfliger about BH and nock set for three under.  He said 7 5/8 and 5/8.  I slapped some nocks on it and started shooting FMJ 400 spine with 225 tip.  It was perfect bareshafts and fletched. Well I got everything tied in and this is what it looks like.

The specs are 60" Bocote Riser with Myrlte veneers low grip checkered it is 55@28.

Grip:  Bar none best grip I have ever felt it fits my hand absolutely perfectly.  The checkering is second to none. It feels as if the bow is an extension of my arm,  it fits that good

Draw : Among the smoothest if not the smoothest I have ever felt.  It truly feels like it is 50lbs.

Mass weight.  I like heavy bows and it fits the bill perfectly.

Performance: It is fast and as quiet as any longbow out there. 0-32 yards no compensation   DEAD SILENT and shoots exactly where I Look.

Fit and finish: Impeccable


I let two other people shoot it and they are all on his list.  They were impressed as much as I was.

Now back to the nitty gritty.  I got to take the HONEY BADGER to the woods.  I killed three does with it in the following 3 days of hunting.  All shots were 20-27 yards and all were pass throughs

Congrats on some great hunts and happy to hear you enjoy the new bow. That's why I own so many of the darn things!!

Ha I am ordering another one tomorrow.  My father in law ordered one today and Spurs is ordering one in next week or so.  Everybody needs a 58" and well a 62" and then there is a longbow MAKE IT STOP!!!!!!

I wish I could take credit for the name.  But I can't.  It reminds me of honey but I couldn't come up with it. My brother in law.  Graybarkhunter came up with it and it stuck.

Way to break it in Will.  And I agree, Brian's low wrist checkered grip is the best I've felt as well.....and his bows ar TUFF! I fell on mine with an 80lb pack and not a scratch on it

Very nice bow as always in brians work way to christen the "honeybager"!! its funny how names stick out mine is "smiling eskimo" for the eskimo pic in the sightwindow brian is the credit for that one!!
