good 10gr/# speed?
« on: October 24, 2013, 07:14:00 AM »
what would you consider to be a good speed for a 70#@28" recurve drawn to 27" shooting a 680gr arrow?

Same draw length as mine.  Thru my chrono, a good bow, setup to hunt will run around 170-175.  If your talking about your new hex6 h limbs then You can figure 175-180area will be close. The hex 6 where the fastest I've ever shot by a couple fps

That seems pretty quick for that much lumber.

That seems to be fair. I can see those numbers as well. Those are some good shooting bows.

I'd say that will do just fine! 190fps with a 700gr arrow will blow through just about anything.

I would check it on another chrono.  That seems to me to be too fast for a 27" draw.

Is that 1 shot or an average od say 10?
Drawn and held a second like a game shot or a snap shot?
You're SURE it's 27" and SURE it's 680 grain?

about 165fps for a 10gr/lb combo is good speed. 170fps+ would be a GREAT speed if it met the above caveat.
Is it too late to be what I could have been?

That´s the correct speed with that bow, you may draw closer to 28" rather than 27" though

i can assure you i'm not drawing more than 27" and that the arrow weighs 680gr. average of 14 shot string. they are the arrows i shoot out of my 57# bob lee. note that the black douglas runs a brace height of 6.5"-7". that's an extra inch or so of power stroke while still having my shorter draw length.

now to get some buff arrows made up that weigh around 950+gr.......
they are going to be something special too. i've currently got some components getting machined since you can't buy what i was looking for.

Well if you have a very clean release these # are realistic with that bow. It Is the fastest bow in ready-to-hunt set up  we have tested up to date on shooting machine.
And on a few critters as well ( sorry Clint to hijacked the post     :)   and can take the pics out if you need)
