am originally from africa, mambas, cobras and puff adders galore, had them in the house, on the vines around the house, and all over the bush- saw them very regularly, and the only times i have ever been bitten, was when i was messing with them. they only bite in defence!!
They play a critical role in the eco system. sad to say, but the attitude of "kill everything we find inconvenient" is what has led us into this environmental pickle we find ourselves in today.
walk around them. or do as RC did just flip them out of the way- we really dont need to kill everything we see , just 'cos we can. unless of course yer gonna eat it.
by the way, they are pretty good eating- eaten a few in my time!!
biggest snakes i ever caught was a "mozambique spitting cobra" that was about 3.5 meters-approx- never measured him!!!- just got him out of the living quarters a.s.a.p.
and a python- that i did measure at over 5 meters- trying to eat a domestic goat- it was heavy- took 3 of us to carry it, and keep it from coiling up on one of us.
i say let em go on their way!!
