Regular Fletch-Tite Glue
« on: October 30, 2013, 08:10:00 PM »
Or should I call it the original Fletch-Tite? Fletch-Tite Platinum sticks great to carbon shafts, but not so good for me on aluminum. Is the original Fletch-Tite still available(can't find it)? Is there a good alternative for aluminum shafts? Thanks for any inputs.

I had poor results with the Platinum as well. Although, it's supposed to be the right stuff to use.
I ended up going to a 3M super household adhesive on the recommendation of folks here and it worked great.

Loctite superglue gel.

I gave up on "fletching glue" Especially the fletch tite garbage a couple years ago and will not buy another tube unless I can't find a gel superglue.

Saunders NPV after cleaning your shafts with Isoprophyl alcohol. Fast drying and crystal clear. Get mine from the "Nocking Point" which come November will be under new management. Mike Horton and his wife Brenda have sold the business to a good friend and customer who promises to continue the business based on Mike's proven business plan. Good luck to all involved.

I've been using FT Platinum to fletch and install nocks on aluminum with zero problems.  My shaft prep prior to fletching is a wipe down with isopropyl alcohol and a vinyl wrap.

NPV works well on just about anything.  Platinum has always worked very well for me on wraps but it is not the equal of its predecessor on aluminum IMO.

I still have about 3 unopened tubes of the original.  It's pretty old and once opened, the tubes gel up faster than I like.  Still haven't tried the Platinum.

I switched to Duco for fletching wood shafts.  You might want to try that for aluminum.

The only time I have trouble with the Platinum is when I don't clean the shafts with acetone. If the prep is done right the fletching will last for years.

I have noticed that the Platinum now states use for carbon, wood and fiberglass. There is no mention of using for aluminum any longer.

I have tried Acetone and alcohol and stillhave problems with the Platinum on Aluminum shafts   I used to make arrow commercialy and did tesn of thousands of shafts with tjhe old Fletch tite with ZERO problems   the platinum  just doesnt work well   Duco does not work well on aluminum either
I need to try the NPV, I have not yet.   SOME of the  "super glues" work well, others do not IMHO.

Yep, I have tried numerous super glue gel makers and Bow Bum is right. The Loctite is the best.

I quit using the FT platinum om aluminums. I now use Super glue gell.
FT just will not hold the feathers on aluminum even after cleaning.
