Against doctors and wifes orders!! (Part two).
« on: November 10, 2013, 08:48:00 AM »
Yesterday afternoon my bothers along with my father ,once again, helped me into the woods with my broken ankle. My brothers loaded me on a deer cart and got me to my stand around 12:30PM. As I watched both my brothers walk away to their evening stands I could not help but to think how blessed I am to have such a family. I started to reflect on everything my family been through in recent years and how we always come together when one of us is in need. I am truly blessed.
Around 1:45PM, I picked up some movement coming from my right. Three doe's came up and started feeding at the base of my tree. I had a constant watch on their back trail for a buck to be trailing. The doe's fed out of sight.
At 2:35PM I received a text from my one brother stating, A doe was heading in my direction and she looked injured and not getting along to good. That she was dragging her rear leg. She wasn't in range for him to shoot. On our property we have a strict rule to shoot injured deer that we believe won't make it through the winter. So about 3:1OPM I picked up movement back to my left. And like my brother said, it was a doe dragging her rear leg. To me she looked healthy all but her rear leg. I could not see why she was dragging her leg but I knew she was hurting. She made her way to about 18 yards to my left and,,,

The doe went about 40 yards and expired within sight of my stand. I text both my brothers what happened and I sat for about 30 minutes before getting down from my stand. My arrow made a complete pass through from behind the shoulder to in front of the opposite shoulder blade.

After close inspection I still could not see what was causing the doe to drag her leg? My father thinks she may have been hit by a car maybe? Hopefully we will find out more when we butcher the doe today. My one brother dragged out my deer as my other brother dragged me out on the deer cart. The "irony"!! LOL.
I want to thank my fathers as well as my brothers who truly helped me enjoy this season.

John,

Hopefully, they didn't draw the straps down too tight on you when they strapped to the cart!!!

Great work, John!

And I don't mind you disobeying the Doc, but you probably really should reconsider dissing your wife!   :saywhat:   I'm just sayin'...
