Here was our last correspondence before his trip.

"Well, it's Halloween; we leave tomorrow, early AM. Should be in Kona by 4pm. I'll be hunting the Ka'ohe GMA on Tuesday and Wednesday, rest of the time is family time - snorkeling, spearfishing, and eating. Over the last 2 months I've been considering which bow to take on this trip. I've settled on my Horne's Traditionalist longbow; 68", 55# @ 31". Shooting full length Beman MFX with Zwickey broadhead, total arrow weight is 550gr (give or take). I shot my mouth off about this trip, better make it happen!

Thanks to Ryan for the encouragement and putting me in touch with Riley. Special thanks to Riley for his advice, knowledge and expertise. Hope I don't let you guys down. I'll keep in touch, let you guys know how it's going."

Wow...after what you and your wife went thru to get one, some mainlander shows up and literally stumbles into one!  :)

What does a "vacationer" do with a skinned goat?      Keep the ladies in the maid crew wondering to find it iced in the tub, eh?    :scared:

Long ago dream of mine... so very cool country and such wary animals!

Thats Awesome!  Congrats
An archer tries to find ways to shoot further more accurately, a bowhunter tries to get as close as possible to ensure his shot is accurate.

Thanks guys! Trust me, I did not "stumble into one." Over the course of two days, I put quite a few miles on my boots. According to my GPS, 17 miles hiked. Also, this is on a side of a volcano - lots of lava rock hidden beneath 3 foot tuffs of grass; not the type of terrain I'm used to here in Cali. Met a commercial fisherman in Kona who invited me over to his home to dress the goat, vacuum seal, and freeze. The day we left for home, I packed the frozen hind quarters, back straps, and shoulder meat into a soft cooler with blue ice (dry ice is illegal on an airplane) and hand carried onto the airplane; frozen solid by the time we arrived home.

Well done. I hunted with a buddy on the big island and we had bbq goat and sheep that night- couldn't even swallow it. I'l stick with elk, Deer and wild hogs.

Nicely done! Goats are a ton o' fun to chase, and no pushover with a bow. Four of us are heading back to Molokai in a few months for our third Hawaiaan hunt and vacation. Can't beat the Aloha experience!
