The weather started off beautiful for sittin' but not the greatest for deer movement.  Lows 40's highs 60's.....

Monday the chasin picked up.  Cold weather was finally moving in which we knew would help.  But we're in Kansas  and that meant the winds also picked up.

Wednesday morning November 13th.
Cold 22 degrees with stiff South wind around 18 mph gusting 20's.
I decided to sit the pasture stand.  It's a stand thats been up 3 years but has only been sat a couple times.

It overlooks an alley of pasture with cedars on each side.

Never question a man's choice in bows or the quality of an animal he kills.  He is the only one who has to be satisfied with either of those choices.

Between 7 & 8:00 I passed on a decent 8 and 9.  Thought I might regret passing the 9...but movement was good and with plenty of days ahead thought it was worth the risk.

Around 8:30 a doe with a decent 10 came into the alley about 200 yards away.  I could just see that there was another buck also entering the alley.  Once I got a look I suspected he was a 12 we had on camera near another stand.

I grabbed my grunt and intended to hassle them a bit hoping to bring them 150 yards north to me.  Well...the ole grunt tube was frozen.  Dang....Nothing but a quiet hum.

They were starting to head south away from me.  I hate rattlin when deer are in sight because it seems I always get busted.  But with no grunt....I decided to try the horns.

Within seconds of hitting them together the bigger buck came on a run...headed right to me.

Here is a velly intellesting pic from 11/2 with rub directly south of cam.  He was a beauty.

Really?.......what are the chances.  Where I'm sitting in the alley is quite a ways from where that cam was....

On a rope....
He came right to me.
Biggest whitetail I've ever taken.
A cold, windy, beautiful day in Kansas.
What a blessing!
