Toelke bows?
« on: November 19, 2013, 11:46:00 PM »
does anyone here own or have experience with these bows? I have a trade offer for a two year old lynx and am just curious how these bow are as far as performance and shootability. it has the recurve limbs. I do like the fact that you can put both recurve and long bow limbs on it...not crazy about the looks as much as stalker bows and bezaleel(which will be my next new bow, just have not decided which one yet)...but looks are second next to how the bow shoots. any opinions and facts about these bows would be greatly appreciated. I do like the double lock pins into the limbs! I may be trading my compound, not my Tall Tines....that bow is here for life, great bow...and it came from a good friend. thanks in advance.

I bought my first Lynx a couple of years ago, a 40# longbow that I shoot in the longbow division of 3D shoots.  I liked it well enough that when a 45# Lynx longbow came up for sale here in the classifieds, I bought it too.  Lo and behold, when it arrived, I found that it had a different grip from my old one, that I didn't like as well.  I called Dan to see if he would make me a new riser to match my old one, which he said he would, and said to send in the riser I didn't want and he would give me something for it.  Later, he called back and asked me to send him both risers so he could match my old one perfectly.  I was a little reluctant to do that, but I have other bows I can shoot so I went ahead and sent him both risers.  Two weeks later he called and told me my new riser was ready and he offered me more money on the one I didn't want than I thought was fair, so I talked him down $50.  I can't imagine ever shooting any other longbow in a tournament than my Lynx.  I'm mainly a recurve shooter, so a pure longbow shooter might feel differently about it, but I shoot the Lynx a lot better than I've ever shot any other longbow.

I am completely satisfied with all my dealings with Dan, and I'm sure you will be too.

Another time, I saw an ad for some limbs from another well known bowyer, and I had always wanted a bow made by him.  So I called him and asked how long it would take to make me a riser if I bought the limbs.  Two years!  I passed on those  limbs.

I don't own a lynx but Dan made me a chinook this year and it is a awsome bow with great performance and very quite. I'm sure the lynx would be a great bow as well

I'm a huge fan of Dan and Jared's bows.  Their service is incredible!   If you do a search for Lynx one of my threads should come up providing several photos and some info on both his HS longbow limbs as well as his recurve limbs.

I have two of Dan's longbows, one of which is a Lynx. I bought the Lynx used and wasn't sure what to expect as far a shootability was concerned. I had been previously shooting a 66" Super D and loved the way it performed as well as its accuracy. When I received my Lynx, which is a 60"er, I took it right out and began to shoot it. I was pleasantly surprised. The bow shot great. No perceptible  hand shock, dead in my hand on the shot. My biggest concern was the length of this bow. I had previously sold another bow, which was a 60"er, because with a 29 inch draw the bow was too short for me. I really had difficulty maintaining consistent accuracy with that 60" bow, but loved the length for turkey and deer hunting. When I shot the Lynx, I was amazed. My arrows flew straight with no left/right problems, and with the right arrow selection my Lynx aiming gaps were very similar to my Super D.

Dan is a great guy and makes excellent bows, IMO.

I'd advise you do it.  Believe me a Lynx is not hard to get rid of in the classifieds.

Dan makes awesome bows. He's very helpful on the phone as well if you're ever having any problems with the bow or your shooting.

I own and have owned several of Dan's bows and I don't believe you will hear one bad thing about them.  Dan and Jared have some of the best out there.  Great workmanship, great service and they always offer great advice on how to become a better archer.  Buy it!

I have owned and still own a number of Dan's bows and have never been anything but completely satisfied with the products and service. When he first brought out the Lynx he sent me a longbow/recurve combo to try out and shoot at 3d shoots. I am most definitely a "Longbow guy" but during the two months I had the bow I practically never had the recurve limbs off the riser. Manners and performance were superb, in short I liked everything about it!

I love that bow.  I have both long bow limbs that I hunt elk with, recurve limbs for antelope and whitetails, and a light longbow set for winter league.    My best hunting buddy loves his as well.

I could post twenty photos.. but here is the most recent.

Same here as Florida Lime, a 64" SS #7  and 66" Super D. I have owned his whips also and shot my buddy's Lynx that was 66". That was a dang nice bow! Dan and his son Jared are master craftsman and model human beings. They have quite the inventory and can turn a new one out in no time.  Im proud to support them.
