Question on Asbell wool vest...
« on: November 22, 2013, 07:29:00 PM »
Howdy folks,

Hoping someone can clue me in on this.
I'm a 46 chest so I ordered the XL vest which just arrived today.

Beautiful vest but, this thing hits me mid-thigh on the length!

I know they're sized up for layering, but am I missing some 'Trad' secret about gathering up the lower hem with a belt or something?

Thinking I need to go a size smaller but I don't want to constrict the bow-drawing action...

Vets help me out here!

I think you'll find that when you sit, it will keep your buttocks warm too.    :bigsmyl:

Seriously, I too wear a XL and mine hits me right around mid thigh. It will keep you warm.

I like the new zippered vests....w/double zipper, you can split the bottom . Makes it easier to wear a safety harness in a tree and more comfortable (for me) walking....

It sounds like a good fit to me,when you are sitting it will not ride up and let wind flow under from the bottom

I ordered a full pull over with 9" extra length specifically so it was long.  I did alter it a bit by cutting (slitting)the sides about 9".  This allows more freedom of movement but it still covers me.  I love it !

Sitting on a rock, I had a smaller mulie buck so close last week I thought he was gonna kiss me.
He walked away, not spooked.  I was wearing Asbell's
wool.

Okay, the votes are in. It's a keeper.

As I wear it around the house I'm starting to see the advantage of the longer length.  It's just a different garment than say my Filson vest so that's what threw me.

Thanks gents. Appreciate the feedback!
