Several weeks ago I called a friend of mine and asked about some knives he made. I was looking for something in the 3" to 4" range that would fit comfortably on my belt. I honestly didn't know if I could afford one of his knives because I knew of his quality. I really thought I'd inquire then wind up running to the sporting goods store and buying a gerber, buck, or something like that. In our phone conversation he began to ask me what kind of steel I preferred and what kind of grip material I liked. I had to hang my head and admit my lack of education on the matter. He told me that if I would trust him he would make a knife that he thought I would love.....
Well today my wife told me that he wanted me to come by, I called him and told him I was on the way. When I got there he handed me this…
I was utterly speachless, I've never held a more beautiful piece of craftsmanship. He hand made the blade then made the grip out of a salvaged 100 year old piece of maple from the mill from the town I grew up in! This tugged at my heart strings since my family and I are getting ready to move out further into the country. Afterwards he said " it's gonna cost ya". He said "I want a picture of the first deer, or turkey you kill while carrying it". I was blown away. Ill forever be in his debt for this gift.
