Wow! Any nice Brownie with a bow would be a shooter to me. Cool pics.

Cool! They look to be in great shape. Not shooters yet, but nicely filled out and good fur.
Larry's biggest complaint as with others, most notably the KWR, is the amount of juveniles and sows that were taken in the last season.
I admire your restraint, most people utilizing this unique opportunity have the "if it's brown it's down" mentality. A 7-8' bear is just not the specimen IMHO.
Can only imagine the grip I'd have on my rifle entering that area to get set up....
Good on ya.

or do some boars run together early on likes bucks do?

Good to see that you're getting some action already. We set up 3 sites last weekend on the KP and hope to have a little activity by this next weekend when I can get out of Anchorage. I'm a first time bear baiter so this should be interesting.

Very cool! I hope your barrel holds up, Jason. How long does your season go?

I'm bad at judging bears. How much do you think they weigh?

I suspect the sow is around 400 and the other a good bit less.
I checked the site this morning, im pretty sure I got woofed at from a distance but no new pictures on the camera.
the season for brown bears ends may 31 and blacks june 30

I am assuming a 400 lb Grizzly is pretty small compared to a full grown specimen?
Good Luck!

well seeing is how the sow was mating 2 or 3 springs ago and was at least 3 years old when she mated I would say she isn't to far from full grown.

I was thinking she looked pretty darn nice, more than I would wanna wrestle with. I am terrible at judging size though.
Good Luck!

Cool picture, big bear! That'd be one heck of a black bear...if it was a black bear.

I put a pic of myself approaching the stand this evening on the last comment. Im thinking that the bears are a bit smaller than I was thinking. but she for sure is a time and a half my weight
