AD shafts
« on: November 26, 2013, 02:04:00 PM »
Wondering if anyone has shot these shafts?

I'm hoping to shoot Big Jim's Big 3 heads from my Kanati that's on the way.

How do you bareshaft tune these parallel to taper shafts?

Big AD fan.

I don't bareshaft them.  Basically screw on the head I want to use and shoot.

Very, very forgiving.  They do seem to perform better the further a bow is cut from center.  Your Kanati will like them.

What weight is your Kanati going to be?  Draw length?

That's good to hear, any place that sells them a bit cheaper? Close to $200/dozen isn't going to fly with my better half...
Its a 58 inch 59# @28" DL

Will hopefully shoot the Big 3 300 grain head for everything except moose/buffalo and elk.

Will use my Grizzly's on heavy adapters if I can get the 300 gr head to work.

Outstanding shafts in my opinion and shoot very well out of a number of bows. Do as Terry said and conduct a search... Pages and pages of info on them.

Also try Raptor Archery for your order... Ted will more than look after you as his service is second to none.

3 Rivers sells them:

AD Trad black shafts are $57.50 for 6, add $47.95 for 12

AD Trad woodgrain shafts are $64.99 for 6, add $55 for 12

AD Hammerheads are $67.50 for 6, add $57.49 for 12

That is a bit cheaper than $200 per doz. on the AD website.

Pretty much all I shoot anymore.
I shoot broadheads from 125 to 180 grain on the same shafts and they fly like darts if I'm doing my part and not making a sloppy release - even then they fly better than most.

Just want to make it clear, the AD web site is different that the Arrow Dynamics Sponsor here Even though it says Arrow Dynamics.  I don't think he even has prices listed, but Gary is also another Sponsor that carries them.

Get mine from 3R.

I agree with Ken (threeunder).  Just fletch 'em up.  Cut to length and add your broadhead or field point of choice to them.

My Super D (58# @ 29") is really fond of 200 grains up front of an AD Trad shaft!!

I second the customer service and quality,
the first batch I got four years ago were breaking left and right just due to angle shots.
raptor archery and the actual ad maker contacted me and sent a new dozen, since then the only ones that broke were done so by critters that they didn't go all the way through, and they usualy go all the way through
by the way what is the BIG 3 head

Another tid bit of AD info, I like the glue-in/glue-on adapters for BH. Was PM'ing with Joe at Tough-Head about the brass Glue-in/Glue-on adapters for 11/32 shafts, it says they fit Grizzly Sticks, turns out they are .285...same size as the AD inserts.

So you can get upto a 200g insert and glue on your favorite BH and eliminate the weak link of a screw in insert.

Thats what I'm gonna do anyway...

jrchambers-Big Jim (sponsor here) has VPA make him a 3 blade screw on 300 grain broadhead. Same quality as the VPA heads, only difference is that the Big Jim Big 3 broadheads have a diameter of 1 1/2", whereas VPA usually only has 1 1/8....sometimes they do a special run of 1 1/4

AD trad is my favorite shaft.  I can shot this out of 50 pound to 59 pound bows.  I don't know the physics of it, but wow.

Should I be able to shoot the AD Trad Lite out of a 58-59# Kanati with 300 grain heads?
