two bucks and a doe tagged.
this morning I went to a ground blind that I built last week, was running late cause I wasn't sure if I really wanted to get out in the cold this morning so I kinda hem-hawed around, and finaly made it about sunup to a ground blind I built last week in an area that I had been seeing deer pass by my stand but there wasn't any good trees for a stand so a ground blind was my option.

I was only in my blind for about 20 minutes scanning left then right then left again then brushing some leaves out away from my boots,

then I heard chh-chh I looked to my right walking straight at me about 35 yards was a buck.

I hate when they come straight at ya!

and then he hits the trail I just walked on at about 20+ yards,  stops and smells me on the trail.

he just stood there figuring what to do for a few minutes and im figuring where my shot is gonna be with very few openings to shoot thru plus I haft to spin to shoot to my right, I got that done when he looked the other way for a few seconds.

he turns to his left to go further to my right, I look ahead of him and no openings, so its now or never.

I have about a 8-10" hole to shoot through.

I draw as he turns his head the other way, I don't remember releasing the arrow it was just gone.

the arrow must not have made it through the opening cleanly cause it hit in the ham with a loud crack.

he spins and runs , I see his leg just swinging with the arrow hanging out.

I watch him run 150 yards or so, I stand to listen and look.

I knew he was hit hard in the ham and was thinking I might have to keep pushing him hard all day to bleed him out.

so I gathered my stuff and went to check the spot where he was standing when the arrow hit him.

looking at the spot where he was standing there was no evidence so I fallowed his tracks a few yards, and there was blood every where, I knew if I hit the femoral artery this deer would be down soon.

after following about a hundred yards I knew I hit the femoral artery, cause there was as much blood as a lung hit deer.

I follow him to some reeds and I can see the steam rising from his breath out of the reeds.

I got that on video if you care to see it
click the picture.

as I was standing watching and listening I heard him crash and shake some small trees, I thought it might be his last effort to run. so I decided to start sneaking in on him, but if you have ever been in these kind of reeds you know there aint no sneaking up on nothing in that stuff...

I got to where he was when I seen his breath rising and could see where he made a mad dash through the reeds,  I see him now about 4 yards away , head up and breathing.

I could barely see him through the reeds, so I put another arrow in his chest and then another, and up he comes and runs about ten yards and drops.

Congratulations!  It's good to know the MO bucks are still out and about during daylight!
