After it went by I figured my evening was done. This was my 32 set in this spot and only the second deer seen. It made my day though just to see a deer. There is sign in the area so I know deer are there somewhere. After about 20 min the sound of deer walking woke me from daydreaming.

When the noise got louder I peeked out of the blind and there he stood. Now I should mention this is not some monster buck story. This is a story of gun season starting and needing to fill the freezer. With that said the excitement that was felt was all most uncontrollable.

Yeah...deer not as common in OH this year.

That shark made quick work of that deer though...you think you could learn a bit from that in this story telling stuff??      :biglaugh:

Your story sounds much like my Saturday AM so far...but yours obviously didn't end watching a white tail bob through the pines waving good bye!!

I was so hoping to put that young buck in my freezer before the guns started blasting.  Congratulations on your success!!!  I hope to join you before the season is out.

So there I sat bow in hand and breathing very heavily. As he got closer I took a deep breath and told myself not to screw this up. At eight yard he is finally turned broadside. As the bow was bent I pick a spot hit my anchor and the next thing I knew my arrow was sticking in his side. I was a bit concerned of the arrow not passing clear through. The hit was a fuzz hit but I thought I should still be in the goodies. The deer was gone in ten yards and never made a sound or anything. So I waited until dark before leaving.

With no exit wound I thought the trail might be hard to follow. Boy was I wrong! I had good blood in the first ten yards. The arrow went through the back part of the shoulder blade and dead centered a rib on the way in taking out both lungs.

Well done.  My hat goes off to you for continuing to hunt and give it your best despite the lack of deer sightings.  It can be really tough but you have shown it can pay off.  You deserve your hard earned venison!

Good work, and hard earned. Like your bow, what are the specs and where did you get the design? Good work.

Thanks guys that is the first button buck I have shoot in many years. I wouldn't be any happier even if it had a 20" spread and 12 points.

Normandale33 the bow is 53 # @ 28 . The design I came up with by a lot of trial and tweaking. It is by far the quietest  and fastest design I have made to date. That is the first deer I haven't had a past thru on with the design. I was concerned about the Simmons not penetrating like my 4blade deltas always have. After I cut him up last night I realized that the head had hit into the other shoulder and stopped.
