Back from Kodiak Island
«

A while ago I posted an invitation to go to Kodiak Island and hunt Sitka blacktails with me. Did not have any takers so I went by myself. I did not get any deer but had a great hunt. Thought that I would post a few pictures so you can see what it was like.

A couple hours after I got to Larsen Bay I was out hunting. Seen a couple of bucks and a few does. Not much snow this year and what there was of it was real crunchy. With no snow up high the deer were still spread out. Usually at this time of the year there is enough snow that the deer have moved out of the higher country but not this year.

It is a little brushy in places

Good stuff Marty.
Glad to see Jake is still a captain...
Without the snow that trip can be tough with stick and string.

There are a lot of eagles around.
Where I stayed in Larsen Bay
My ride back to Kodiak
To sum it up the weather was great. I seen a lot of deer everyday. Did a lot of hiking and hill climbing. Never seen any bears but did see fresh tracks almost everyday. Did not bring any deer home but had a great hunt.

Awesome, thank you. Looks like a neat hunt. Did you carry a back quiver of some sort. I notice not a lot of arrows in your bow quiver.

Kodiak is a great adventure. I've got to make it back up there myself one day... Great pics, especially love the sunset pic.
