More Big Sky Pictorials
« on: December 03, 2013, 09:54:00 PM »
After enjoying Mark's wrap up of his season I figured I'd post a few pics from this year.  Since my camera is going down hill most of my pictures were taken with an iPhone 5. If they were close enough I just used the really nice iPhone camera. The more distant ones, some out over a mile, were taken with a very nifty little attachment from Kowa. This thing let's me mount the phone to my spotting scope or binocs. While the quality on some aren't real spectacular I'm having a ball just playing with it.

Our general season ended last Sunday, no big bucks or bulls died but it was a good season anyway. I got close several times but just never got the urge to  drop the string on the ones that were dumb enough to let me get close. There were a couple white tails the last couple weeks I sure would have thumped but just couldn't make it happen on them. Now I'm stuck with only wolves and lions to chase till spring...

Hope you enjoy.

Hey Doug...heard some good stories about that big grizzly boar living up there between you and me....have you ever seen him again?   Tracks are enough....

Those are some good whiteys for your area...looks like some of the good ones been passing on their genes.  Great pics of some great animals!

Oh there's the occasional griz Mark but they are pretty scarce most of the time. I slipped up on a dandy black one morning but it was the ugliest bear I've ever seen and the bulls were screaming so I let him walk. Couldn't tell if that track was griz or black but I'm thinking big black.

I would have loved to find a big mulie but those whities were very cool. The local Outfitter that was killing every little buck that poked his nose out lost his leases around us last year. Two years have made a huge difference in our buck quality. Can't wait to see what we have next year.

The son in law was up on Baker one afternoon and saw a momma lion with four nearly grown kittens. I've seen two toms this year so they will sure be taking their fair share of deer and elk...

Thanks for sharing your pictures of the good life in Montana. The picture of the Bear track didn't show large claws.

Thanks for posting Doug... Might finally be over at the end of next year mate, off to BC in June to hunt bear myself and thinking of returning at the end of the year with my boy for a road trip...

Looks like a successful season Doug, even without the meat to go with it.  You were able to put eyes on some fine looking animals!

Doug,
That was a great season regardless of the freezer.  Now mountain lions, wolfs, and  redfish/hogs    ;)
