Hello gang. I have been a member since 2010. I don't post much just read and learn. Thank you all for the free advice and tips.
On November 23rd it was cold with 2" of snow on the ground. Perfect. I was hunting with a good friend of mine. We saw a couple of spikes. Then I had just finished rattling when my buddy motions me to get ready. So I stand up and lean against the big cottonwood tree I was using to block the wind. I look out to see tall antlers. So I watch as the buck works a scrape. He turns to walk the other way and I doe bleat at him. He looks my way. Then I grunted at him and here he comes. He gets to about 25 yards and I look at my buddy thinking he will be drawing any second. Nope he nods at me with his hands in his pocket. Now the buck is still coming and my heart is beating he is scanning the area and I'm trying to hold still. Then at 12 yards he looks at my buddy and I draw anchor and release. He runs about 30 yards and stops. I look back at where he was standing and see a bloody arrow. I look back and he falls down.
Hope you guys enjoyed the story. I am just glad to have such a good buddy who let me take this deer. I used my Hill Country Wildcat, Gold tip Trad, and Sasquatch broadhead.
