Big Hog Down!
« on: December 08, 2013, 11:17:00 PM »
I was very fortunate to take this nice boar with my Kempf Trophy Hunter Longbow this evening.   This big boy came in from down wind and stopped at the base of my tripod. Like many times before, I figured it was game over.  These big hogs are quick to leave with the slightest hint of trouble.  However, he was more interested in the deer at the feeder and literally charged them full speed to run them off. I waited until he gave me a quartering away shot and light was fading quickly. He gave me the shot and I took it. It was about 20yds and it was difficult to see exactly where I hit him. The boar spun around about 3 times trying find out what bit him and took off but I could tell he was hurting. I gave him a few minutes and crept over to the spot where he was spinning and saw good blood. I waited for a fellow hunter to come with me on the tracking job just in case we got into some trouble.  The blood trail was easy to follow and he barely made it 50yds.  I shot him with a CE Heritage 150 from a Backporch Archery tipped with the old faithful Wensel Woodsman 150. After the hunt, I checked my game camera and could hardly believe it! I got a post shot pic.

Thanks guys!

I love it when the compounders and rifle hunters say, "you killed that with your longbow, really?"
