Could someone help me out ?
«

I have just ordered a bow from Mike Mcreedy at Maddog archery, really excited about my bow,
I have ordered a 47 pound at 29.5 inches, I want to get some arrows with it.
So I want to buy the Goldtip traditional 5575/400 (+/-.003) shafts, and do some bareshaft tuning, cut it myself, add on the insert the point, and fletch it myself but NO idea where to buy it from, do I need to buy them with the nock or can I buy it somewhere without a nock and buy the nocks myself??
Everywhere seems to be selling the (+/-.006) shafts can someone help?

I think the 5575 are going to be too stiff.

Too stiff. Get 3555 or 1535 from big jim. Click the banner at the top of the page.

I have a 30" draw and like my own bows to be about 45-47# at that draw length. I have had good luck using full length 55/75's with 225 grns up front. 100 grn insert and 125 grn field point.
If you are looking for some good shafts at a reasonable price and great customer service I can't recommend Big Jim's GT blems highly enough. The only blemishes are cosmetic. Check out Big Jims website, you will not be disappointed.

Big Jim Has 1535's in stock of the blems. No 3555's unless you go with pink Nugents.

Oh and If I order some arrow shafts which say nocks and inserts come included in the price, do you think that the nocks are glue in already or can I interchange them to allow for shaft trimming as I have no Idea how much im going to have to trim the bare shaft for my new bow.

the nocks should be push in you will have to glue in the inserts. you should go with the 3555 if you want a average arrow weight if you want a heavy one go with the 5575 and no cutting will be needed just point weight to tune. I know you could get the 5575s to work but might need 300 in the front. its a preference thing, if you are new to trad I would recommend average arrow weight. for me extra heavy arrows were a little less forgiving to flaws in the shot. not sure why.

I would talk to Mike at Maddog Archery and see what spine he would recommend out of his bows. When you order shafts they usually come with nocks installed and inserts loose so you can cut them or have them cut to length.

I would look into a 3555 or similar shaft. 3 Rivers Archery and Big Jims Bow Company will both have the items you are looking for and also be able to point you in the right direction. Most carbon shafts will come with nocks but you should have a number of alternate nock choices with the Goldtips' should you choose to do so.

Cool thanks ! Ive sent him an email and if all comes down to it ill order the bareshaft tuning kit from 3 rivers which has all 4 spine types of gold tip traditional shafts ! ahh I was told that you were meant to trim the arrows on the nock side. So when it says nocks included I am a bit confused as I thought it left no room for trimming!

As for the .003 vs .006 I doubt you'll notice a difference.

I shoot 5575 with 145gr up front with my 46# Whip, and get perfect arrow flight. What may be too stiff for one may not be too stiff for another. And for that matter, I shoot 7595 with my 46# A&H.
Why don't you ask the bowyer what he recommends?

3555's are definitely the way to go. you can make others work, but when you do that, they are much more sensitive to form issues.
We have the 3555's in stock at this time and they are 10% off to boot. Don't have the blems except in the pink nugents. In addition, we have black 3555's with a permanent white cap and they too are 10% off of an already closeout price of 54.99.
The 1535's are definately too week. I have seen them work at 47 lbs but on bows not cut near center or draw lengths much shorter than 29.5".

I sent you a private message before I noticed the post by Big Jim so no need to call him...Mike Mecredy also posts here pretty regularly so if calling from the UK is too expensive email or private message on here should work...you can just do a search as Mike uses his name as his member name

I've had 3 different maddogs and the 3555 would work much better.

Big Jim's is the way to go. Gold Tip Traditional 35/55 should be just right.

Listen to Big Jim! He knows what he's talking about. I've had really good luck with the 35/55's out of a variety of bows. Different center cuts, and 44-52#. I draw 28", and have had them cut from 28.25-30.5" with various point weights, and have always seemed to get them to fly really well. I do prefer Bohning signature, or Easton super nocks over the GT nocks, as they seem to fit most modern (low stetch, skinny type) strings better.
